The goal of this study is to find out if medicine made from the plant called Ginkgo biloba can prevent or delay the onset of dementia. Four sites around the country, including Johns Hopkins, have enrolled participants in the study (approximately 3,000 have been enrolled). Half of these individuals are taking pills that contain Ginkgo biloba and half are taking a placebo (a sugar pill). The participants are being followed for a total of 5 years.
